DT Day Summer Term Lime Class

We had a fantastic day. Reception children made sandwiches for The Lighthouse Keeper linked to their English work. KS1 made Perfect Pizzas.  We learnt about food groups, a healthy balanced diet and the importance of good hygiene when handling food.  Both Reception and KS1 cut food using knives. They were taught how to hold food in different ways to ensure it was safe at all times.

All the children tasted, designed, made and evaluated their sandwich or pizza. Our classroom smelt amazing!

Here are a few photos from our day...

KS1 -

Exploring our ingredients, tasting and discussing what food group they belonged in.

Cutting ingredients for our pizzas, we used knives safely, ensuring our fingers were out of the way.

Covering our pizzas with tomato puree and decorating with ingredients.

We enjoyed eating the most! We took home what we didn't eat to share with and show our families.

Reception -

Exploring and tasting food for the sandwiches before designing our own.
