It is the smallest of all seeds but when it grows up it is the biggest of all plants. It becomes a tree, so that birds come and make their nests.' Matthew 13:32

Governance

The Governing Body

The role of our Governing Body is:

“to conduct the school with a view to promoting high standards of educational achievement”.

The Governing Body has three core functions:

  1. Setting our school's ethos, vision and long term strategic direction.
  2. Holding the headteacher to account for the educational performance of our school and its pupils.
  3. Overseeing the school's finances and ensuring that money is well spent.

A key focus of the Governing Body is on school improvement. The Governing Body agrees the school improvement strategy and monitors and evaluates progress towards the targets that have been set. Once a term, the Governing Body provides a Termly Report to share with parents some of the key issues and decisions being considered by the Governing Body.

The Governing Body is not involved in the day-to-day running and management of the school. This is the job of the headteacher.

More information about the role of governors at our school is contained in our brochure, "Becoming a Governor at Wetheringsett C of E Primary School" (see below for downloadable PDF). If you might be interested in becoming a governor, please contact our chair of governors via the school.

Our governors are very happy to talk to parents or members of the community about strategic matters relating to the school and / or its role in our wider community. (Operational matters or issues should be referred directly to the Headteacher.)

The Governing Body is structured with committees that have responsibilities for different areas, these are

Personnel and Resources and the Curriculum Committee.

Our Chair of Governors Mrs Jo Pitt , may be contacted via the School Office or jo.pitt@wvcpschool.com
