Roman's Day

Sycamore Class had an immersive Romans' Day. We started by locating Roman sites around the UK on a map and then designed our own Roman towns.

After practising Roman numerals, we made clocks and solved a mathematical puzzle using our new knowledge.

We played Knucklebones and Calculi – games that children would have played in Roman times.

The highlight of our day was using our shields to create the formations the Roman army used – the Wedge, Tortoise, Repel Calvary and Orb.

We learnt about how mosaics were made and designed our own, using small tesserae.

Lastly, we created banquet menus fit for an emperor, including food such as dormice dipped in honey and flamingo tongues!  A great day was had by all!
