Gurdwara Visit

Sycamore class had a great time at the Gurdwara on Friday.  Not only did we have the luxury of an airconditioned room, we  also learnt so much more about how Sikhs worship.

Our guide took us around the Gurdwara and told us about how it is used for a place of worship and also to serve the local community.  He explained about the history of Sikhism and where Sikh practices come from.  He explained why Sihks wear Patkas or turbans and even showed us how to put one on.

We were amazed at the beautiful part of the Diwaan Hall which held the Guru Granth Sahib (The Sikh holy scriptures) and we loved seeing the kitchen where over 200 meals are cooked every week!
