Sycamore class have had another busy DT day!

We explored existing greenhouses of all shapes and sizes to understand their purpose and how they work. Next, we investigated stable structures and suitable materials, thinking about the need for enough light to get in, but the frame being strong enough to be sturdy.

With this in mind, we planned our own mini greenhouses, thinking about what materials and tools we would need. We used our problem solving and fine motor skills to build our greenhouses, a few adaptations to our plans were needed along the way.

Finally, it was time to evaluate our own and others’ greenhouses and to celebrate our achievements with parents/carers at the end of the day. Well done, Sycamore – a great day of learning and new experiences!
