Maya Civilisation

Chestnut Class enjoyed an immersive afternoon linked to their Maya topic in History. Firstly, we made Mayan Jaguar masks using a range of craft materials. Once the masks were dry, we finished off the afternoon with a game of Pok -ta -tok in the village hall. Pok-ta-tok was a ball game that the Maya civilisation played on a ball court. You were only allowed to use your hips, knees and elbows to bounce a rubber ball through a stone hoop. Pok-ta-tok ball court remains can still be seen in sites such as Chichén Itzá today.
