To celebrate World Book Day 2023, we took part in a challenge set by the DMAT. We had a 'Picture Book World Cup' where we shared and enjoyed picture books from different categories with a 'knock-out' style competition after each set of books was read. 

The challenge was completed over two weeks, with all classes taking part and voting in each round. The books covered a wide range of topics, from books about artists to books about environmental issues or  feelings. 

Our final winner was 'Zoom' by Istvan Banyai - a big hit with many of the children. The book has no words at all, but the children enjoyed following the pictures from page to page, predicting what may appear next in this one-off adventure!
