Visit about volunteering
Wed 24 Jan 2024In PSHE, Sycamore Class have been thinking about the communities they are a part of and the volunteers who help in these communities. We were very lucky to have a visit from, a local volunteer in Wetheringsett. She answered all the children's questions and shared some history about volunteering from Wetheringsett's past. After her visit, some of the children's comments were:‘Volunteers give up their time to help.’
‘There are lots of people behind the scenes, we should say thank you more.’
‘Volunteers put in a lot of commitment.’
‘It is important to work alongside others.’
‘Volunteering is good for your mental health.’
‘A small community can make a big difference.’
A very big thank you to Mrs Stannard for giving up her time to come in and talk to Sycamore Class and helping us to learn more about volunteering and being part of a community.

Forest School
Fri 19 Jan 2024During this week’s Forest School session, KS2 enjoyed learning about ‘Sound’. They explored which noises they could make and how they could change the pitch and volume of their sounds, e.g. filling bowls with leaves to make the sound dull. The children also noticed the vibrations made through the medium of water when the wheelbarrow was hit with a stick. Sycamore Class were able to tell Mrs Hammond how sound is made and how we hear as they have been learning about 'Sound' in Science and writing explanation texts about it in English.
