  • Visit to Gainsborough's House

    On Monday the whole school visited Gainsborough's House in Sudbury.

    The day was divided into five sessions with all groups rotating through each:

    • Portrait Explorers 
    • Landscape (involving a scavenger hunt)
    • Use of the camera explorer (top floor of building which includes floor to ceiling window and view
    • Textiles and patterns

    In school today the pupils have been producing their own portraits.

  • Healthy Soil

    Sycamore Class have designed and built a model showing a cross-section of healthy soil. This will be entered into the Suffolk Farming School of the Year Competition 2024. The children added an example of a life cycle, a biodiversity strip, left over crops, millipedes, worm castings, fungi and a wheel demonstrating crop rotation.

     

  • Bollywood Dancing

    The whole school really enjoyed the Bollywood Dancing Workshop in school today.

  • DT day

    During our DT day this half term the children in Chestnut class focused on bird boxes. The children investigated bird boxes and how different birds need different styles, they drew design plans for their own design, they did a lot of hammering to construct their bird boxes and wrote evaluations based on the design criteria. All of the adults were very proud of the resilience that the children showed when hammering the joints together. 

     

  • Sycamore Class Dt Day

    As part of our DT Day, Sycamore Class made prototypes of an Eiffel Tower using art straws. We are hoping to use this design to create an Eiffel Tower out of willow for our 2024 Paris Olympics themed garden.

     

  • Hare and Tortoise Performance

    The pupils really enjoyed some live theatre in school this morning. The New Wolsey Theatre, gave a very entertaining performance of the Hare and The Tortoise in the hall. Pupils from Bedfield joined us for the the performance.

  • World Book Day

    "For world book day 2024, Chestnut class wrote their own class poem based on  'The Dragon who ate our school' by Nick Toczek. We looked at the structure of the original poem and used it as a model for our own poem 'The ogre who ate our school
